Iheanacho has not gotten a lot of minutes at Leicester City this season, but at Villa, he proved his mettle
Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho nicked a goal and two assists for Leicester City to help them claim a 4-2 victory at Aston Villa.
Iheanacho has been the third-choice striker at Leicester this season with Jamie Vardy and Patson Daka preferred over him.
However, Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers handed him his first Premier League start for the first time since September 6th, and he did not disappoint.
Ollie Watkins gave Aston Villa the lead after just nine minutes. But Iheanacho set up James Maddison with a sweet pass in front of the box to help Leicester City get back on level terms.
New Foxes signing Harry Souttar then let his teammates down after he scored an own goal in the 32nd minute to put Aston Villa in front again.
Nonetheless, Iheanacho came in handy again. Harvey Barnes sent a ball into the ball, and Iheanacho showed his striker’s instinct, pouncing on the cross and sending a powerful header into the net from close range.
Still, the Super Eagles striker was not done. Just before halftime, Iheanacho played a lovely pass to Tete, who cut in and struck a sweet strike to make it 3-2 for Leicester City.
The Foxes took the lead into the break. Dennis Praet struck the fourth for Leicester City to seal their 4-2 victory.
After a great performance, Iheanacho was hauled off in the 67th minute. He was replaced by Vardy. His display was enough to earn the Man of the Match award.
