Déjà vu! Gift Orban mirrors Moses Simon 2015 performance as he bags brace for Gent

Gift Orban, Just like Moses Simon in January 2015, joined the Belgian side, from Nowegian Club, Stabaek Fotbol.

Nigerian International, Gift Orban, delivered an impressive performance for KAA Gent on his debut match for his club.

In The Buffalo’s visit to Het Kuipje, they could only secure a point, in their quest to get back to winning ways.

Orban’s performance in the match was comparable to what Gent’s then-20-year-old Simon Moses provided them after joining the Belgian side in early February 2015.

Similar in age to Moses at the time, the former Bison FC player just joined Gent from Stabaek Fotbol and gave his team a lead in the last 30 minutes of play after Belgian defender Maxim De Cuyper had tied Hugo Cuypers’ spot kick.

Following goals from Lukas Van Eenoo and Nader Chadili that made it 3-2 for the home team, the Super-Eagles eligible star added another.

Moses scored a hat-trick for his team in their 3-3 draw with Lokeren in the Sunday afternoon East-Flemish derby in place of Orban’s brace.

Meanwhile, Lokeren always equalizes in the game every time the Nigerian star, who signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Gent, gives his team the lead.

In the opening six minutes, he gave the visitors the lead, but Rami Gershon’s own goal gave the hosts a stalemate.

A shot from the Nigerian forward gave the visitors the lead ten minutes later, but Killian Overmeire leveled the score just before half-time.

Moses scored again for Hein Vanhaezebrouck’s men in the second half, scoring in the game’s 72nd minute, and Hans Vanaken restored parity two minutes later.

The Super Eagles called Moses up the same year, and he has since made 53 appearances and scored 7 goals for Nigeria. Moses’s convincing performance for the Belgian squad aroused the attention of the Spanish La Liga team, Levante, who acquired his signature for a sum of €3.50m.
