Chuba Akpom has been a standout performer for Middlesbrough, scoring 17 goals in all competitions.
Former Manchester United player, Michael Carrick, has signed out Chuba Akpom’s goal for Middlesbrough against Blackpool on Saturday.
The Nigeria-eligible striker was once again outstanding in his side’s 3-0 victory against The Seasiders at the Riverside stadium.
The striker, who was recently named the Sky bet’s Championship player of the month for December, raised his goal tally to 16 goals in 23 domestic league appearance as he bagged his second brace of the season as his team hosted The Tangerines.
Akpom handed Carrick’s men an advantage in the first half of the game as he curled in inside the far post with a right-footed effort, and as well extended the lead when he pounced on Riley McGree’s feed before Paddy McNair added the third.
The English boss who has been labelled as the proponent of his impressive performance this season could not hold his words on Akpom’s goal.
“It was a terrific goal from Chuba, a great individual goal and just what is needed sometimes in a game like that because it can nudge you ahead. I liked the second goal, the team goal, from goalkeeper Zack Steffen all the way through the pitch and then to finish it off with a great combination of Chuba and Riley (McGree).” he said as quoted by Skysports.
Carrick’s men sit in the third place of the championship table with 48 points, and are 10 points behind Sheffield United, and 17 points behind Burnley.
Carrick, however, speaking on the impressive run, said, “It is important (to win five in a row at home), when you have the support we have behind us. The boys are playing with confidence. The atmosphere that creates is special.”
The North Yorkshire based club will be hoping to extend their impressive run when they travel to Cardiff City next Saturday.
