AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles coach Ladan Bosso names final 21-man squad

When the AFCON 2023, which is scheduled to take place from February 19 to March 11,2023, is over, the Flying Eagles of Nigeria will be seeking to deliver Nigeria’s first trophy in 2023.

Flying Eagles head coach, Isah Ladan Bosso, has announced his final roster for the Nigerian under-20 national team competing in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Under-20 African Cup of Nations host, Egypt, Senegal, and Mozambique, the second debutant, were drawn as opponents for Bosso’s team.

The formidable group has Senegal, who placed second in 2015, 2017, and 2019, as well as the tournament’s host, who won in 1981, 1991, 2003, and 2013.

The coach, however, soothed the uproar in earlier reports from Soccernet.ng by downplaying the anxieties of his players and said that the group in which the flying Eagles were drawn is a “normal group.”

The Nigerian manager has, however, proven the readiness of his boys by defeating the Junior Chipolopolo of Zambia 4 goals to 2 at the Moshood Abiola Stadium, in Abuja.

Following the clash, Bosso has been busy burning all candles to select the best squad capable of delivering the nation its first triumph in 2023.

The manager, in a list released by the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, will March 21 boys to Casablanca, Morocco’s commercial and economic capital, for a one-week last training camp before the Africa U20 Cup of Nations, which would begin on Saturday of next week in Egypt.

Against Sunday, February 19, at 9 p.m. Egypt’s time, the Flying Eagles—two-time runners-up in the FIFA World Cup and once bronze medallists—will take on the Cub Lions of Senegal at the Cairo International Stadium. Face Mozambique on Saturday, February 25th, and the hosts Egypt on Wednesday, February 22nd, both at the same location.
