“We will both score goals”- Ighalo ready for Ronaldo challenge

Ronaldo already gave a sneak peek of what he can offer when Saudi All-Stars played PSG, but Ighalo is not worried

Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo has revealed that he is not disturbed by the challenge that Cristiano Ronaldo would pose in the competition for the Saudi Arabian Professional League Golden boot.

Ighalo arrived in Saudi Arabia in 2021, and he has been outstanding. The Nigerian striker switched from Al Shabab to Al Hilal in January 2022 and he has fast formed a reputation as one of the deadliest strikers in Saudi Arabia.

The former Watford man was the highest goalscorer in the Saudi Arabian Professional League last season with 24 goals. This season, he is third on the goalscorers chart with eight strikes.

Al Nassr man Anderson sits on top with twelve goals, while Abderrazak Hamdallah has nine strikes.

However, Ighalo now has a new competitor to think about. Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Al Nassr, and the former Manchester United man’s penchant for goals can not be hidden.

He even scored a brace when Saudi Arabia All-Stars played PSG in a friendly game.

Still, Ighalo is not disturbed by the potential challenge. He insists that he will focus on his team instead of getting worried about Ronaldo.

“Ronaldo is the best,” Ighalo told OmaSportsTV.

“I have too much respect and admiration for him. He is going to play for his team and he will score goals.

“I will do my own job in my own Al Hilal, and we will see how it goes at the end of the season.”

Ighalo has missed Al Hilal’s last four games. But he can still catch up with Talisca at the top of the goalscoring charts.

Ronaldo may not be able to meet up with Ighalo this season because it is already halfway into the season. Still, Ighalo will have a tough fight next season.
