The one-cap Nigerian international enjoyed a fantastic debut season in the Macedonian top flight
Super Eagles striker Sunday Damilare Adetunji has been voted the best foreign player in the Macedonian Football League in 2022.
Sunday Adetunji only moved to Macedonia in August 2021 when the Lagos-born striker signed for FC Shkupi.
The former Abia Warriors centre-forward hit the ground running as he scored a brace on his league debut in a 4–1 triumph over rivals FK Skopje.
Adetunji did not slow down for the rest of the campaign, netting 20 goals in 28 appearances to finish as the league’s top scorer.
The 25-year-old supplied another six assists as his contributions proved crucial in powering Shkupi to the club’s first league title.
Adetunji has picked up this season from where he stopped last term, with six goals and four assists in 21 matches in all competitions for the Smugglers.
The former Rivers United star has three goals in the Macedonian Prva Liga, and one goal each in the UEFA Champions League qualifying, Europa League qualifying, and the Europa Conference League qualifying series.
And Adetunji’s brilliant form has seen him recognised as the best player from abroad to play in the Macedonian top flight.
Adetunji’s only appearance for the Super Eagles came as a second-half substitute in Nigeria’s 4-0 loss to Mexico in an international friendly in July 2021.
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika will be working under the management of Scott Parker after Club Brugge appointed the former England international as the new head coach.
The Belgian champions sacked manager Carl Hoefkens a few days ago and have replaced him with the former Chelsea and Tottenham midfielder.
Onyedika joined Brugge from FC Midtjylland in the summer and quickly became a key member of the Blue-and-Blacks under Carl Hoefkens.
