Social Media capital: Spanish club courting Nigerian fans’ support

The La Liga team has used its social media platform fairly well, choosing to target and direct its fan base to the Nigerian market.

Spanish La Liga club, Cadiz CF has been recently courting Nigerian fans support on social media.

The official Twitter page of the club for Indian fans have been tagging Nigerian fans to their post to demonstrate their admiration for the Nigerian fans.

It is no secret that there are a lot of supporters of European football in Africa, mostly in Ghana, South Africa, and Nigeria. This is when they secure the signature of one of their countrymen as a player in their respective clubs.

For the 2022–23 Spanish La Liga season, Cadiz , which was promoted to the league, is presently seated in 19th position. This has not prevented them from gathering a sizable number of fans, many of whom they believe to be fans from Nigeria in particular.

Meanwhile, a person by the name of “Dani” was seen wearing the jersey of the Nigerian national team and thanking Nigerian supporters for their support in one of the videos shared on their social media accounts on Twitter.

The caption to the video reads: “A special message from Dani to all our fans from Nigeria”

On another event, the page admins claim that Nigerian superstar singer Burnaboy, who has acquired enormous support from most top teams, including Manchester United, is a huge supporter of their team.

“Hey @burnaboy 😍 We’ve heard that you’re our best Nigerian fan 🇳🇬 😜 Is it true?” reads the caption.

Before their match against Sevilla, Lori Stars FC, a team in the Nigeria Professional Football League, recently issued a goodwill message to the 1910-established club through Twitter.

This nevertheless shows that, despite Cadiz FC’s poor recent performance in the La Liga standings, they are effectively using their platform to draw in a sizable fanbase, particularly from Nigeria.
