Samuel Chukwueze in action as Villarreal stunned Real Madrid with a historic win

Villarreal beat Carlo Ancellotti’s men 2-1 at Estadio de la Cerámica, with goals from two Spanish players, Yeremy Pino and Gerard Moreno.

Nigerian International, Samuel Chukwueze, played the full 90 minutes for Villarreal as they upset La Liga champion Real Madrid by a score of 2 to 1.

Real Madrid suffered only its second La Liga loss of the campaign at the hands of the fifth most valued Nigerian‘s team, who put on an outstanding display for Quique Setién’s squad.

In the first half of the game, the Yellow Submarine made a few efforts to test Yashin Award winner Thibaut Courtois, but the Belgian goalkeeper once again demonstrated his value by stopping a few shots.

However, the experienced goalkeeper Pepe Reina stopped Vinicius Jr. from scoring after the Frenchman Karim Benzema created Real’s finest first-half opportunity with a beautiful first-time ball on the volley.

Spanish forward, Yeremy Pino, who plays for the hosts, scored the first goal for the home side with a shot that sailed past Courtois a few minutes into the second half.

The Los Blancos were awarded a dubious handball decision against Juan Foyth after 60 minutes of play, which allowed the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner to square the score with his 227th La Liga goal.

When Alaba tripped and handled Foyth’s low ball while placing his hand on the ground to steady himself, Villarreal was awarded a penalty, and Gerard Moreno calmly sent Thibaut Courtois the opposite way from the spot to deliver the Castellón province club with an advantage.

Meanwhile, Chukwueze’s runs, two shots, and 80.6 pass success for Villareal contributed to the surprise win.

However, Chukwueze’s team advanced to fifth place in the La Liga standings and won their first match against Real Madrid since 2018.
