Like father like son! Historian labels Alex Iwobi’s father as “one of the most rugged and skillful midfielders”

Alex Iwobi’s father, who has been hailed as a skilled player, is now a lawyer after ending his amateur football career as a youth.

Nigerian historian and lawyer, Nze Ed Emeka Keazor, has characterized Alex Iwobi’s father, Chuka “Mahella” Iwobi, as one of the toughest and most skillful midfielders in the mid 1980s.

The Archivist, on the other hand, sent his fans on a trip through time by sharing a picture of the now-Lawyer and revealing that he played as a tudent at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

Although information on the Super Eagles’ father is scanty on the internet, however, it was established that he played for Vasco da Gama of Enugu, and as a final-year law student at the University of Nigeria.

At the now-defunct Femo Scorpions of Eruwa, Chuka, Iwobi’s father also played with Super Eagles icons Peter Rufai and Mutiu Adepoju.

According to the historian: “Perspectives- when young people see this pic, they see Alex Iwobi and his elderly dad.”

“I, on the other hand see the mighty Chuka ‘Mehallah’ Iwobi, one of the most rugged and skilful midfielders at UNN,where we were both contemporaries in the early to mid 80s – and his son. Life.” he wrote.

However, he also said that Iwobi’s parents were supportive of his development as a player and how well they groomed him to become a professional footballer.

“I’ll add that his father and mother were super-supportive. You don’t just appear from nowhere and play professional football. Someone for years, was taking him to children and youth team games, buying kit, encouraging and managing before he even had a chance of getting noticed.”

However, one of his Twitter followers shared a photo of an old newspaper that confirmed he played as a youngster.

The Super Eagles winger must have modelled his father to become a good forward for the Nigerian national team, as well as Frank Lampard’s men.

The Everton star was in action as his team held Manchester City down to a draw in a feisty contest on Saturday. However, his influence was felt in the match, as the Merseysiders held Pep Guardiola’s men to a 1-1 draw.
