The Nigerian international had a sluggish start for Steve Cooper’s team, but after scoring 5 goals thus far, he was undoubtedly catching up to the Premier League’s tempo.
Football Journalist for Nottingham Forest, Paul Taylor, has offered an update on the injury sustained by Nigerian international Taiwo Awoniyi during his team’s match against Southampton.
According to him, the Super Eagles attacker will be out for the Tricky Trees for eight weeks.
Recall that on January 4, 2023, the Saints played Steve Cooper’s team at St. Mary Stadium in their first game of the year.
The Super Eagles attacker, Awoniyi, who joined from Union Berlin during the last transfer window, was gradually adjusting to life in England and was undoubtedly catching up with the Premier League.
The attacker, however, was instrumental in his team’s triumph after scoring the game’s lone goal in the Premier League. This was the attacker’s fifth goal for the team overall, and his recent form had been outstanding.
Soon after his impressive display for his side, he was pulled out as a result of a groin injury he picked up during the tie.
The Injury setback has however, kept the Nigerian out of his club’s couple of matches which include their loss to Blackpool, their cruise to the Carabao cup quarter-final after defeating wolves, and their victory against Leicester.
