Napoli’s Victor Osimhen reveals his newborn daughter’s name

The Nigeria international is one of the world’s most recognised strikers at the moment, he however became a father a few months ago

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen has finally shared, with the public and especially his fans, more details surrounding the birth of his daughter.

Early in October, Osimhen became a father for the first time as the 23-year-old striker celebrated the birth of his baby girl.

The former Lille lad has been seen a few times since then dedicating goals to the little child but not much has been revealed about the baby or her mother.

In an interview with Il Martino, Osimhen has, however, opened up a bit. The Serie A top scorer says the name of his daughter is Haly and she is the one to whom he dedicates every one of his goals.

“It is the most fantastic thing that could have happened to me,” Osimhen said of the birth of his baby.

“I celebrate her after each goal, making the gesture of the initial of her name, H. Her name is Haly.

“I always want her close to me, because this is the memory I too always have of my father: him by my side. All the time.

“Time with her is precious. I want her to become a woman who always feels like she has her father by her side.”

Born in Italy, young Haly is an Italian citizen. But Osimhen vows that he will ensure she goes to Nigeria where he was born and raised.

Osimhen is convinced that it will bring him a lot of pride to see her connect with her Nigerian roots.

“One day, we’ll go there (Nigeria),” Osimhen continues.

“She will have to smell the smells of that land. I will have to show her the places where her uncles sold oranges and newspapers and I cut grass.

“It will be important for her to see where our story began and that it hasn’t been an easy path because life is not easy.

“And it will be important for me to show them where those places, even the ones where I sold pure water on the streets of Lagos.”

Osimhen’s pact with poverty ended when he helped Nigeria win the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup, a tournament that opened the door to a career in Europe for him.
