Onyedika and his Club Brugge side were cruising to a victory, but they lost it in the final embers
Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika saw 90 minutes of action in Club Brugge’s 1-1 draw against Leuven.
Club Brugge returned to Jupiler League action against Leuven at the Jan Breydel Stadium in Brugge. The Belgian champions were massive favourites to claim the win, especially as Leuven sat ninth on the table, eight points below them.
Club Brugge coach Carl Hoefkens gave Nigerian midfielder Onyedika the nod to start for Club Brugge, and he had a good show.
The Belgian champions were the better side from the start, but they had to wait two minutes before the break for Ferran Jutgla to give them the lead just before the break from the penalty spot.
Club Brugge also dominated the second half. Onyedika was superb in midfield with one interception, 68 touches, and two accurate long passes.
Unfortunately for Club Brugge, they could not add to their goals, and they paid for it. Leuven equalized in the fourth minute of stoppage time to seal a 1-1 draw at the death.
The result leaves Club Brugge in 4th position, twelve points below league leaders Genk.
