FIFA World Cup: “Like Morocco like Nigeria”- Fans hail Morocco after breaking Super Eagles’ 26-year record

The Moroccans were not given a chance going into the Mundial, but they proved their quality

Fans took to social media to shower praises on Morocco after their 2-1 victory over Canada that sealed their spot at the top of Group F at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Morocco were placed in a tough group that had Belgium and Croatia, and according to FIFA rankings, Morocco were the third-best team in the group.

However, the Atlas Lions exceeded all expectations. They started the competition on a good note, getting a draw against Croatia in their opening game. Morocco then went on to get a shock win against Belgium in their second fixture.

Then, they completed their good run with a 2-1 win over Canada. The result sealed Morocco’s place at the summit of group F.

Their achievement ensures that Morocco are the first team to top a FIFA World Cup group since the Super Eagles did it at the 1998 World Cup.

Following the result, Nigerian fans took to social media to praise the Atlas Lions for their achievements.
