Chukwueze soars for Villarreal in seven-goal thriller against Galatasaray

The Nigerian forward could not do much when Villarreal lost to Fenerbahce in their first mid-season friendly game, but he turned up against Galatasaray.

Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scored for Villarreal in their dramatic 4-3 victory against Galatasaray.

Villarreal suffered a 2-1 loss to Fenerbahce in their first mid-season friendly game, and they were looking to do better in their second fixture.

The yellow submarine squared off against former Super Lig champions Galatasaray at the NEF Stadyumu in Istanbul.

Villarreal needed just 22 minutes to take the lead through defensive midfielder Francis Coquelin, who struck a curler from the edge of the box.

Five minutes later, Johan Mojica doubled the lead for Villarreal with a fantastic free-kick.

Then Chukwueze showed great positioning and pace to score the third for Villarreal in the 32nd minute.

Galatasaray pulled one back through Bafetimbi Gomis in the 42nd minute, but Jorge Pascual scored for Villarreal before the break to maintain the gap going into the break.

The former Turkish champions tried to stage a comeback with second-half goals from Albdullerim Bardakci and Beran Demiroglu. Nonetheless, Villarreal held out for the 4-3 win.
