Captain Ahmed Musa implicated in NFF’s plot to blacklist Super Eagles goalkeeper from future engagements

The Nigerian skipper is the Suoer Eagles’ most cap player in history with over 100 appearances for the three-time continental champions

Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has been sucked into the terrible, back-and-forth scandal involving the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, and Enyimba goalkeeper John Noble.

Reports emerged last week that John Noble was the only member of the Super Eagles squad to the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in January who had not been paid his tournament bonus.

Every member of the 27-player contingent has reportedly received $25,000 as their Afcon bonus, except John Noble – the only home-based star picked by interim manager Austin Eguavoen.

While the NFF is yet to react to the allegation, it has surfaced that the football body is displeased with Noble for going public with his grievance.

And there are claims that the NFF has vowed to stop inviting the goalkeeper for future Super Eagles matches, effectively ending his international career.

It appears that Sivasspor attacker Ahmed Musa has sided with the Nigeria Football Federation against his international colleague.

According to Shina Oludare, the journalist who broke the story, Musa claimed that Noble was at fault for the unpaid allowance as the shot-stopper provided a wrong dollar account.

But it seems that argument holds no water as Noble has previously received payments from the NFF through the said account.

It has been over ten months since Nigeria’s Super Eagles crashed out of the Africa Cup of Nations in the first knockout round.

In the opening round, Nigeria defeated Egypt, Guinea Bissau, and Sudan to finish top of Group D.
