Super Eagles coach declares team’s readiness to battle Costa Rica

The Nigeria football national team will target their first win over the Central Americans when they meet in San Jose in the coming hours

Super Eagles assistant coach Salisu Yusuf has declared the team’s readiness to give their best when they trade tackles with the Costa Rican national team on Thursday.

Costa Rica host the three-time African champions at the National Stadium in San Jose in what is the country’s final match on home soil before departing for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Nigeria arrived in San Jose on Monday and have been training at the Centro De Altro Rendimiento Training Centre.

The team, made up of players mostly from the Nigeria Professional Football League, has prepared under the watchful eyes of Salisu Yusuf.

And the Olympic Eagles coach has expressed his confidence in the players’ ability to make the encounter a difficult one for the Costa Ricans.

“The players have responded well in the two warm-up sessions we have had since arriving in San Jose,” coach Yusuf said. “I have confidence in the lads to give their best in the game on Thursday.”

In the absence of Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi, and other regular Super Eagles stars, coach Yusuf will rely on goalkeeper Kayode Bankole, the exciting Samuel Kalu, and dynamic forward Sunday Faleye, and 15 others.
