After missing Portugal friendly, Super Eagles star gets return date from hamstring injury

The Nigeria international has missed recent games for club and country due to an injury

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina is a few days from returning to football action following a lengthened spell on the sidelines due to injury.

Aina last featured for Torino in a Serie A clash at Udinese on October 23rd. The 26-year-old scored his first goal of the season in that encounter to power Il Toro to a fine 2-1 win over the Flying Donkeys.

But Ola Aina has not made the matchday squad for Torino since then after suffering a myotendinous lesion in his left hamstring. The health issue was expected to keep the former Fulham loanee on the sidelines until the end of the year.

The Nigeria international has since missed Torino’s wins at home to AC Milan and Sampdoria, the loss at Bologna, and the 1-1 draw away to Roma.

Aina was also not involved as Nigeria’s Super Eagles fell to an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Portugal in Lisbon last week.

There is, however, good news for Ola Aina as his injury is healing faster than previously anticipated.

According to Torino Granata, Aina is only a few days away from joining Torino’s first team training.

The Chelsea academy product will head to Philadelphia in the United States on Monday, November 28. There he will team up with the rest of the Torino players not called up for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

With his contract expiring next summer, Aina’s stay in Torino remains in the balance. A few clubs from the Premier League are monitoring the situation as Torino and Aina continue negotiations regarding extending his contract.
