Nigeria’s Flamingos will play Colombia’s u17 women’s national team in the semifinal of the 2022 FIFA u17 Women’s World Cup in India.

Colombia set up the tasty clash with the African side after trashing Tanzania 3-0 in their quarterfinal encounter on Saturday.

Earlier on Friday, Nigeria dumped the United States out of the tournament to reach the World Cup semifinals for the first time in history.

The Flamingos held the Americans to a 1-1 draw in regulation time and kept their nerves to win 4-3 on penalties.

The victory over the US followed wins over New Zealand and Chile in the group stages. Nigeria lost their opening game in the tournament 2-1 to Germany.

Nigeria’s semifinal match against Colombia is scheduled for the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on Wednesday, October 26.

It will be the Flamingos’ third match against the South Americans at the World Cup. Nigeria won the two previous encounters between the two countries.
