UCL: Napoli whitewash Bassey’s Ajax without Osimhen

Napoli thrashed Ajax at the Amsterdam Arena on Tuesday to open a strong lead at the top of their Champions League group

Victor Osimhen has serious competition in his hands as he battles to return from fitness. In his absence, Napoli have looked devastating and have been an attacking sensation.

Against Ajax in the Champions League, Napoli came from behind to hit six past the Dutch giants.

Ghanaian star, Mohammed Kudus gave Ajax an early lead in the game in the 9th minute before Giacomo Raspadori’s equaliser nine minutes later.

Giovani Di Lorenzo and Khvicha Kvarashkelia scored their first Champions League goals in either side of goals by Raspadori and Piotr Zielinski.

Serbian midfielder and Ajax captain Dusan Tadic got his marching orders after getting booked twice in the game before Giovani Simeone’s sixth of the game.

It was the first time Napoli will score more than three goals away from home in the Champions League and Ajax’s heaviest defeat at home in the competition.

Napoli now have nine points after three games and have been one of the best sides in Europe this season despite missing their star man for almost a month.

Bassey could not stop Napoli from hammering the Dutch giants and will look to bounce back from the heavy loss and turn around an already slumping season.
