Super Eagles midfielder was on the scoresheet for the second time this season as Southampton lost at home to the Toffees
Ralph Hassenhuttl selected Joe Aribo in the starting lineup against Everton on Saturday as their lead was canceled out by a two-minute rush from Everton.
Conor Coady’s 52nd-minute effort and Dwight McNeil’s 54th-minute finish proved enough for the Evertonians to defeat the Saints.
Aribo was an angelic presence in the game as he delivered the goods but his team couldn’t hold off.
With two goals already coming off his boots this seas in, he is the second joint top scorer in the squad alongside Che Adams.
His coach, who was impressed with his quality finish spoke after the game.
“There were moments where we can kill them and we had two good moments, the first one was the goal where we immediately played deep, one good run, Che’s good pass and Joe’s good finish, this is how it should be, ” he was quoted to have said by the Daily Echo.
“And yes, I mean, what happened then? Everybody saw from the kick-off a long ball, foul and then a cross from a free-kick from the side. We are not defending well in the box there. They get the equaliser and after it’s tough normally.”
