“He can play in the biggest leagues” – Super Eagles youngster tipped to become a big hit in Europe

The youngster has been one of Nigeria’s most prolific forwards abroad during the first few weeks of the 2022-2023 campaign

Lorient manager Régis Le Bris has expressed his conviction in Terem Moffi’s quality to become one of Europe’s most coveted forwards.

Le Bris have watched with pleasure as Moffi shook off the cobwebs of last season to begin this new campaign in unstoppable mode.

Moffi endured several long spells without a goal last term before ending with eight goals in 37 league matches.

It was a far cry from what was expected of a striker who netted 14 Ligue 1 goals in his first year in France.

Fortunately, Moffi has rediscovered his goalscoring boots, netting six goals in his last six games for Lorient. The former Kortrijk FC ace has also found the back of the net three times in his last two matches for the Super Eagles.

Coach Régis Le Bris is delighted that Moffi has out behind him the difficult times and is back to his best form.

And the French manager is convinced that the 23-year-old will one day end up in one of Europe’s biggest leagues – the Premier League, Serie A, or La Liga.

“I have great faith in Terem,” Régis Le Bris told the official Ligue 1 website.

“We talked about things a lot. Forwards can go through barren spells, just like goalkeepers can have a dip in form.

“Finishing becomes harder. But they can still help the team in other ways… and Terem has been helping us in a lot of different areas since the start of the season.

“He’s a player who can play in the biggest leagues. He still has quite a few things he needs to work on, but just like any young player, he has lots of potential.”

Moffi’s six Ligue 1 goals this term have come against Clermont Font (brace), Lens (brace), Lyon and Auxerre. Lorient won in three of those four matches.

The Super Eagles striker will look to increase his goal tally when Lorient host Lille later on Sunday afternoon.
