Euro Round-up: Danjuma nets brace, Chukwueze features in Villarreal win; Bastia halt Maja’s scoring run

Soccernet.ng brings you the highlights of the Nigerian footballers in action for their respective clubs on Monday, October 17, 2022.

Samuel Chukwueze featured from the bench as Villarreal returned to winning ways in La Liga with a 2-0 triumph over Osasuna at the Estadio Ciudad de Valencia.

Villarreal lost at Real Sociedad last weekend, but two goals from Nigeria-born Netherlands international Arnaut Danjuma helped the Yellow Submarines secure their fourth win in nine league matches.

Chukwueze played the last 20 minutes of the encounter, as he replaced Yeremi Pino in the 71st minute.

Maja’s three-match scoring run came to a halt at Bastia as the home side forced Bordeaux to a 1-1 draw in the French Ligue 2.

Maja had scored seven goals in his last six games, including three in consecutive matches against Dijon, Laval, and Metz.

But the 23-year-old was kept at bay as a 94th-minute Van Den Kerkhof strike helped Bastia to cancel out Ignatenko’s 83rd-minute opener for Bordeaux.

Outside Europe

2015 FIFA u17 World Cup winner Osinachi Christian Ebere scored his second goal of the season in Plaza Colonia’s 2-1 loss at Wanderers in the Uruguay Primeira Division.

Ebere gave Plaza Colonia an early fourth-minute lead inside the Alfredo Victor Viera Park, an advantage the visitors protected until the halftime break.

But Argentine stars Mana and Castro struck after the interval to condemn Plaza Colonia to a fourth league loss in five games.

Former Golden Eaglets star Ebere is currently on loan at Plaza Colonia from Brazil side Fluminense SC.
