Eligible for three countries, Nigerian-descent Arsenal forward stakes strong claim

The Arsenal forward born of Nigerian parents has shown great form since moving to the French Ligue 1

Folarin ‘Flo’ Balogun steals headlines every week now since his loan move to Reims in the Ligue 1.

The former Arsenal U-23 star was loaned out of the club to gain more first-team experience as he is rated highly by the club and is expected to return soon.

Balogun on Sunday scored his 6th league goal against Troyes, raising more awareness about his growing brilliance.

He had played the second half of last season under Chris Wilder at Middlesbrough and learnt the physical part of the game in the Championship.

Eligible for the United States where he was born to Nigerians, he moved to England aged just two and has spent his life there where he played for the Arsenal Academy.

He has also had first team appearances and scored in the Europa League for the Gunners already.

An England U-21 international, Balogun is seen as one of the rising youngsters of the English game and his international future will soon be a question of debate.

The Super Eagles and the US Male National Team are monitoring his progress at Reims as he’s also expected to be given a chance at the Emirates.
