The Nigerian just keeps proving that he is the best striker in the Jupiler League
Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu scored two goals for Jupiler League high-flyers Genk in their 6-1 demolition of Westerlo.
Genk were on a twelve-game unbeaten run when they welcomed in-form Westerlo, who were on a six-game unbeaten run.
Nigerian striker Onuachu had scores to settle, as Westerlo were one of the few Jupiler League clubs that he had never scored against.
The game started in gung-ho fashion, but it was the Cegeka Arena owners who drew first blood through Joseph Paintsil in the 7th minute. Before Westerlo Arena could regroup, Genk scored their fifth eight minutes later courtesy of Daniel Munoz.
However, Tuur Dierckx pulled one back for the visitors. But Genk were on a different level.
Onuachu then got his first goal of the night in the 30th minute after a cheeky finish in the box, off a pass from Paintsil. Ten minutes later Genk were handed a penalty after very poor play from Westerlo.
Genk’s talisman did not make any mistakes, as he fired home from the spot to bag his brace and increase Genk’s tally.
Munoz scored Genk’s fourth just before halftime. The Limburgers dominated the second half, especially after Westerlo midfielder Nene Dorgeles was handed his marching orders.
Onuachu was denied the opportunity to get his hattrick, as he was taken off for Mbwanna Samatta in the 66th minute.
However, Patrik Hrosovskly scored Genk’s sixth in the 79th minute to wrap up the win.
The win helps Genk maintain too spot in the Jupiler League. For Onuachu, he has been spectacular in recent weeks, and his brace means he now has six goals in his last wpwq
