After one game, Super Eagles forward leaves new club over poor accommodation

Visa issues had delayed the six-cap Nigerian international from getting to the club early but when he finally arrived, what he found was frustrating

Sylvester Igboun, a former FC Ebedei and ex-FC Midtjylland striker had taken his trade to the East earlier in October.

He joined Indian Super League side, North East United but barely spent a month before leaving the club due to poor housing conditions.

Igboun was the sixth and final Nigerian at the club ahead of the new season.

The former Nizhny Novgorod player had visa delays from his former base in Russia but had lighted up fans when he came on in his first game of the season against East Benghal.

His movement and directness was a positive for the team as they lost 3-1 at home in his only game for the club.

According to Khel Now, other players in the team also have complaints about the team’s accommodation facilities.

“Sly has left the club facilities due to poor accommodation. He was very disappointed to see the state of place that the club provided him,”  Khel Now quoted a source within the club.

“Apparently many players are unhappy with the living conditions. But, Sylvester Igboun was the one who chose to walk out first,” the source was quoted as saying.

The players and officials of the club were lodged at Raddison Blu Hotel last season but have booked flats near the stadium for the team this season – an accommodation Igboun isn’t pleased with.
