The former Ajax man was spectacular and was one of the best midfielders in his days
Super Eagles Legend Sunday Oliseh was a force of nature during his playing days, and to some, he was an enigma. The Nigerian-born midfielder was one of the best players in the world in his prime.
Oliseh played for some of the biggest clubs in Europe. He made his name at Ajax, Juventus, and Borussia Dortmund, before hanging his boots in 2006 after a year at Genk.
Even though his time as gaffer of the Super Eagles coach left a bitter taste in one’s mouth, Oliseh’s heroics for Nigeria during his playing days are set in stone.
From his screamer against Spain at the 1998 World Cup to his consistent and unstoppable passing ability when in the green and white.
Asides from his qualities on the ball, Oliseh was also brilliant off the ball. He was great at sniffing out danger, marking opponents, and breaking play. In fact, Oliseh was a quintessential regista.
Fans on social media believe that if the 48-year-old was still active, his value would be quite astronomical. And it is not out of place, considering how volatile the transfer market has been in recent years.
