“Wilf is not at fault” – Leicester City fans back Ndidi in clash with teammate in near-costly Brighton mistake (WATCH)

The Nigerian midfielder got into a disagreement with goalkeeper Ward during the first half of their away loss at Brighton on Sunday

Leicester City fans are in unison in their support for Wilfred Ndidi following the midfielder’s altercation with goalkeeper Danny Ward in their 5-2 defeat to Brighton at the weekend.

Ndidi and Ward did not cover themselves in glory as Leicester City suffered their fifth loss in six league games at the American Express Community Stadium.

Both LCFC players were in each other’s faces in the 28th minute of the encounter after a mistake nearly gifted Danny Welbeck a goal.

With Leicester already trailing 2-1, under-pressure Ndidi sent a simple pass to Ward, expecting his goalkeeper to smash it out of danger.

But the Wales international’s poor first touch allowed Welbeck to steal in, rob him of the ball and send an effort narrowly off target.

Ward, however, was angry with Ndidi’s pass, and both Leicester players exchanged hot words with a disappointed manager Brendan Rodgers watching on the sidelines.

Several Leicester City fans, though, believe Ward was at fault for the error and not Ndidi.

Watching the clip of the incident posted on Twitter, a section of the Foxes’ fanbase is convinced the goalkeeper is one reason the team is struggling this season.

While Ndidi has been an integral part of the Leicester City set-up for several years, Ward had, before this season, played second fiddle to Kasper Schmeichel since joining the Foxes from Liverpool in 2018.

The 29-year-old made only one Premier League appearance in four years before his promotion to number one after Schmeichel left for France this summer.

Ward is yet to keep a clean sheet in six games, with Leicester surprisingly sitting at the foot of the league table without a win so far.
