What’s happening? Fourth Super Eagles player ruled out for the rest of the season

The year 2022 is not a year the Super Eagles will remember for being particularly good with the World Cup miss and a host of big injuries happening

Real Sociedad striker, Sadiq Umar faces a long spell out of football as his club has declared the extent of his injury.

Sadiq according to Real Sociedad medical report will be out for the rest of the season after rupturing his anterior cruciate ligament.

He is the fourth Nigerian player to be ruled out of football this season after Tijani Samson, Akinkunmi Amoo and Jamilu Collins.

Real Sociedad coach had feared the worst after the loss to Getafe on Sunday and said the prognosis of the injury looked ugly. Sadiq’s teammate Turrientes also confirmed it looked a bad lesion on his leg.

“We know that soon we will be celebrating your goals again. Eutsi, Sadiq!” the club wrote in a goodwill message to the forward.

“He suffered a torsion in his right knee during the Getafe-RS match, held yesterday, 09-11-2022.

“The MRI done this morning shows a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament. It is a subsidiary lesion of surgical treatment. In the next few days it will be reported.

“Start treatment with physiotherapy and personalized work,” the club declared in a statement by its medical team.

Also, Victor Moses had earlier been ruled out for six months last month after sustaining an Achilles’ tendon injury.
