WATCH: Super Eagles star’s spectacular long-range strike wins GOTM award in Portugal

The one-cap Super Eagles star has been rewarded for his brilliant goal that played a part in Porto B’s victory in mid-August

Nigerian forward Abraham Ayomide Marcus has been named the winner of the Portugal Liga 2 best goal of the month of August for his spectacular strike against Belenenses.

Making his debut for Porto B on August 14 after completing his loan move from Portimonense in July, Marcus scored what could be the best goal of his career so far.

After just ten minutes into the game week two fixture between hosts Belenenses and Porto B at the Caixa Futebol Campus, Marcus was inspired to make some magic.

The 22-year-old attacker received the ball from inside the centre circle, saw the goalkeeper was off his line, and sent an audacious effort straight into the top left corner.

Porto B would go on to win the encounter 3-2 for their first win of the Segunda Liga campaign. Marcus scored again in his second start for Porto B in their 2-0 win at home to UD Oliveirense the following weekend.

And of all the goals scored in the division, six of which were managed by Porto and two of which were netted by Marcus, that strike against Belenenses has been deemed one without equal.

Marcus now has two goals in five games for Porto B.

Last season, the youngster did not find the net at parent club Portimonense and while on loan at Radomiak Radom during the second half of the campaign.

His best campaign in Portugal remains the 2020-2021 season when he scored 11 goals in 26 Segunda Liga goals for Feirense.
