The Desert Foxes claimed the 2019 AFCON at the expense of Nigeria, but the Super Eagles could be out to get their pound of flesh
Algeria coach Djamel Belmadi is expecting a tough game from the Super Eagles Eagles when both teams square off at the Miloud Hadefi stadium in Oran tonight.
Algeria welcome Nigeria in a friendly game tonight in a replay of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations third-place match.
In recent times, Algeria have been a tough nut to crack for the Super Eagles. In their last meeting, Nigeria could not beat a second-string Algeria team that was made up of home-based players.
In fact, the Super Eagles have failed to beat Algeria in their last four meetings.
Algeria coach Belmadi is aware of the good record his team has against the three-time African champions Nigeria. But he is wary of the threat that the Super Eagles pose, especially as they may want to avenge their 2019 AFCON loss.
“Against Nigeria, it will be another game,” Belmadi said as per DZfoot.
“It is a team that needs no introduction, given that it is one of the best in Africa. I’m sure they will come with a spirit of revenge, as our last two meetings have been in our favor.
Algeria beat Guinea in their friendly game on the 23rd(Friday) thanks to Islam Slimani’s 79th-minute finish. And the Desert Foxes would be looking to appease their fans with a victory, especially after they lost out on a World Cup ticket earlier this year.
