“The images are ugly” – Real Sociedad’s coach provides update on Sadiq’s freak injury

The Super Eagles forward had taken to the La Liga cleanly, scoring three goals in his opening five games

Sadiq Umar had scored on his Real Sociedad debut but the Basque club may have to do without him for some time.

The former Almeria forward suffered a freak injury after landing badly following a dribble by a Getafe player.

When asked about the condition of the player, Sociedad coach, Imanol Alguacil said the image of the injury doesn’t look good.

”The image has been ugly, but we have to wait for the tests,” he said.

Sadiq’s teammate Benat Turrientes also provided an update on the Nigerian’s injury.

“From what it seems it does not look good, now send him a lot of encouragement and let it be as little as possible” he said.

Sadiq joins Victor Osimhen and Calvin Bassey as players nursing various degrees of problems.

Bassey was substituted in the 84th minute for Ajax on Saturday as he gave a convincing display which ended with a knock.

Osimhen played for just 42 minutes when Napoli mauled Liverpool in the Champions League last week.

Jose Peseiro faces a stern test as more players get fitness challenges ahead of Nigeria’s friendly against Algeria in Oran.
