The former Flying Eagles forward played under the former Brighton and Hove Albion manager for two seasons at Swedish club, Ostersund
Graham Potter took the Swedish club from the fourth division to a victory at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal in the Europa League with one of his Nigerian lieutenants at the club.
Alhaji Gero scored 12 goals and assisted 6 in his two seasons at the Swedish club and was his best return under any manager in his career.
In an Instagram post congratulating his former boss, Gero described Potter as the “best coach in the world”.
”Congratulations to the best coach in the world. Wishing you all the best at Chelsea,” Gero wrote.
Potter landed the Chelsea job after the sacking of Thomas Tuchel following Chelsea’s rather uneventful start to the season.
The final straw was against Dinamo Zagreb in the Croatian capital where the Blues lost 1-0 and Tuchel was dismissed the following day.
Potter who has masterminded a strong run for Brighton at the beginning of the season took over the reins at Chelsea and is expected to make his mark at Stamford Bridge too.
