Iheanacho opens account, but brilliant Brighton outfox Leicester City in seven-goal thriller

The afternoon started well for the Foxes, but they were undone by a better and well-tutored side

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho scored his first Premier League of the season, but his effort was not enough, as Leicester City fell to a 5-2 defeat at Brighton.

Leicester City traveled to the Amex Stadium aiming to claim their first three points of the season against Brighton.

Foxes coach Brendan Rodgers gave Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho his first start of the season, while compatriot Wilfred Ndidi started as a makeshift center-back.

The Foxes started the game on the front foot, and it took them just 52 seconds to take the lead.

Iheanacho got on the end of a pass from Patson Daka and coolly fired home from close range to make it 1-0. However, the lead did not last.

Leicester City fullback Luke Thomas scored an own goal in the 10th minute to draw level for Brighton. Moises Caicedo then put Brighton ahead in the 15th minute with a brilliant finish.

Nonetheless, Daka scored for Leicester City in the 31st minute to ensure that both sides went into the break on par.

Unfortunately for the Foxes, they capitulated in the second half.

Leandro Trossard scored Brighton’s third in the 64th minute. Afterward, Ndidi conceded a penalty for his side after a poor foul against Trossard, and MacAllister was on hand to fire home from the spot.

MacAllister then put the final nail in Leicester City’s coffin with a superb free kick to ensure it ended 5-2 for Brighton.

The loss leaves Leicester City rooted at the bottom of the Premier League.
