Former Manchester City and Arsenal stars make Super Eagles 25-man squad for Algeria friendly

Despite the absence of some A-list stars, coach Jose Peseiro has named a strong squad for the friendly game against Algeria

Former Manchester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho and former Arsenal man Alex Iwobi are some of the top names in Jose Peseiro’s 25-man squad for the friendly game against Algeria.

The Super Eagles square off against Algeria in a friendly game on the 27th at the Oran Olympic Stadium.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Real Sociedad star Sadiq Umar, are injured, and would not be available for the fixture.

However, Peseiro has named decent replacements ahead of the game on the 27th.

Who are the invited players?

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho(Omonia), Maduka Okoye(Watford), Adeleye Adebayo(Hapoel Jerusalem).

Defenders: William Ekong(Watford), Kenneth Omeruo(Leganes), Chidozie Awaziem(Hajduk Split), Olaoluwa Aina(Torino), Calvin Bassey(Ajax), Zaidu Sanusi(Porto), Kevin Akpoguma(Hoffenheim), Leon Balogun(QPR)

Midfielders: Wilfred Ndidi(Leicester City), Frank Onyeka(Brentford), Alex Iwobi(Everton), Richard Onyedika(Club Brugge).

Forwards: Ahmed Musa(Fatih Karagumruk), Kelechi Iheanacho(Leicester City), Moses Simon(Nantes), Samuel Chukwueze(Villarreal), Ademola Lookman(Atalanta), Henry Onyekuru(Adana Demirspor), Taiwo Awoniyi(Nottingham Forest), Chidera Ejuke(Hertha Berlin), Cyriel Dessers(Cremonese), Terem Moffi(Lorient).

The Super Eagles and Algeria will not be at this year’s World Cup in Qatar. But Peseiro would look to take advantage of the game to study his team and try new tactics.
