Stop showboating – Italian pundit asks Napoli’s new playmaker to play to Victor Osimhen’s strength

The Nigerian international has been left frustrated by a lack of service with Napoli struggling for goals in preseason

Italian football expert Professor Eugenio Albarella is not pleased with new Napoli signing Khvicha ‘Kvara’ Kvaratskhelia for starving Nigeria’s Victor Osimhen of the passes the striker needs to score goals for the club.

Napoli signed the gifted Georgian youngster from Dinamo Batumi this summer as a direct replacement for departed club captain Lorenzo Insigne.

While the 21-year-old playmaker’s talent is not in doubt, he has been accused of holding on to the ball for too long with teammates left stranded during games.

After scoring 14 goals against two weaker oppositions in the early stages of pre-season, Napoli have managed just three goals against Adana Demirspor and Mallorca recently.

Osimhen got only one of those three goals, and even that came from the penalty spot in the 1-1 draw with the Spanish side.

Professor Albarella admits that Kvara is still settling down at Napoli, but the pundit wants the midfielder to integrate his play around the more refined Osimhen.

“Kvara may not have understood that he plays with a team that has players of at least the same level or higher in its plots,” Prof Albarella told Canale 21, as per Tutto Napoli.

“The extra play that sometimes puts Osimhen out of time or Lozano must be corrected along the way and I am sure the coach is already working on it.

“It is as if he wanted to prove at all costs that he is good and it is useless. Here it is only important to be incisive and decisive.”

Osimhen was Napoli’s highest goalscorer in all competitions last season, with the former Lille lad hitting the target 18 times.
