“Please, come to Chelsea” – Blues fans beg Super Eagles striker to replace Timo Werner

The German forward has returned to former employers RB Leipzig, leaving the Londoners light in attack

A section of the Chelsea supporter base has urged Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen to quit Napoli and move to London following the exit of Timo Werner.

Germany international Timo Werner left Chelsea a couple of days ago to rejoin Leipzig for €20 million. That is €33 million less than the fee Chelsea paid the Bundesliga club to acquire the 26-year-old two years ago.

But Werner’s exit, coupled with Romelu Lukaku’s earlier departure for Inter Milan, leaves Chelsea with an accomplished centre-forward.

Manager Thomas Tuchel has welcomed the arrival of Raheem Sterling and Armando Broja, and Mitchy Batshuayi is still on the Blues payroll. But the Blues are believed to still be in the market for a quality striker.

Excellent forwards do not come better than Napoli’s leading man Victor Osimhen, a player previously linked with Chelsea.

The Nigeria international has been the subject of interest from nearly half of Europe’s biggest clubs, but none has so far made an offer for the former Lille lad.

The 23-year-old, one of the most influential figures at Napoli, is set to continue his stay in Naples for at least another year. Osimhen is contracted to the Neapolitans until the summer of 2025.

But some Chelsea supporters are pleading with Osimhen to cut short his stay with the Italian side and cross over to London to become the Blues’ main man.

Here are some of their comments after they flooded Osimhen’s Twitter posts with their pleas:

Osimhen and Napoli will begin their 2022-2023 Serie A campaign with an away clash at Verona on Monday. The Super Eagles star will aim to better the 14 league goals he managed last year.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge in a matchday two fixture of the English Premier League. Thomas Tuchel’s men won at Everton on the opening day of the season last weekend.
