Official: Chelsea beat AC Milan, Barcelona, and PSG to Super Eagles prospect

The Londoners have pulled off a massive transfer coup after signing one of the most highly-rated teenagers in English football

Premier League giants Chelsea have confirmed the signing of Anglo-Nigerian midfielder Carney on a permanent deal from Aston Villa.

The England youth international had been on the radar of some of Europe’s biggest clubs, including AC Milan, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain.

The 18-year-old midfielder had only one year left on his Aston Villa contract and had refused to extend despite being presented with a lucrative offer.

Chelsea have, however, swooped in to secure the signature of the Super Eagles-eligible ace for a deal believed to be worth up to 20 million pounds.

Chukwuemeka will head to London, where he will ink a six-year deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until the summer of 2028. The gifted midfielder is expected to undergo a medical on Wednesday (tomorrow), after which he will be unveiled later in the week.

After making his breakthrough last year, Chukwuemeka flourished under Villa boss Steven Gerrard last term, making 12 appearances (including two starts) in the Premier League.

But failure to receive guarantees of more playing time has encouraged Chukwuemeka to seek a move away from Villa Park.

Chukwuemeka captained England at the Under-19s level and was part of UEFA’s Team of the Tournament at the recent European Under-19 Championships in Slovakia.

But he remains eligible to play for the national teams of England, Nigeria, and Austria.
