The German-born Nigerian star has returned to English football after two years away and his new manager is glad to have him
Queens Park Rangers coach, Michael Beale has praised Leon Balogun as a player with an ‘elite standard’ and one he truly admires.
Beale commented on his latest recruit, Balogun whom he worked with when he was assistant to Steven Gerrard at Rangers.
The Englishman greatly respects the former Mainz defender and never passes on an opportunity to reveal his admiration of his personality.
“I am delighted with this one – I have been chasing him all summer,” he said.
“He had a lot of offers so it is great we have been able to get him. He comes here on the back of two years at Rangers. He was absolutely fantastic in the season we won the league and last season he made 37 appearances in the team that won the Scottish Cup and reached the Europa League Final.
“He has got huge amounts of experience, has played in the Premier League and Bundesliga as well and I am delighted now with the strength we have defensively.”
Beale is also a big fan of the defender’s composure outside the pitch and said it’s a special trait.
“I like the way he carries himself. He is a very special person in terms of his personality.
“He has got elite standards and I have seen that first hand.”
Soccernet had reported Balogun’s move to Queen’s Park Rangers on Friday after comments made by the coach of the side as far back as June.
