Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has demanded that the Nigeria Football Federation pay him his outstanding debts as ordered by FIFA.
Rohr dragged the NFF to the highest football ruling body FIFA after he was relieved of his job in December 2021. The Former Nantes boss was seeking compensation for unfair dismissal.
FIFA ruled in Rohr’s favor, ordering the NFF to pay him ₦160 million($380,000). However, the Franco-German is yet to be paid fully.
Rohr affirms that he has already received a part of the money, but he is demanding that the football federation pays him the balance.
“I received part of the payments from Fifa but not everything has been paid,” Rohr told BBC Sport Africa.
“The ruling already said the interest must be paid, now we are waiting for the outstanding with the interest.”
Meanwhile, the NFF appears to be short of funds. But according to an NFF official, Rohr will be paid by FIFA, with a part of Nigeria’s FIFA development funding.
However, he added that Rohr has already been paid over $250,000, and the outstanding balance was $127,000.
“We agreed to this mode of payment (Fifa development fund) with Fifa to enable us clear the debt,” the official, told BBC Sport Africa.
“The NFF received a letter through his lawyer that he wants to be paid the outstanding and additional interest, which is understandable.
“Rohr refused to tell the media that he was paid over $250,000 and that the outstanding is actually $127,800, but this is normal. We are very optimistic that he will be paid soon and this case will be closed.”
