The young Nigerian descent joins the likes of Nantes’ Moses Simon and Lorient’s Terem Moffi in the French top flight
Stade de Reims have completed the signing of Arsenal’s Anglo-Nigerian striker Folarin Balogun on a season-long loan deal.
With a statement on their official website, Arsenal have announced the departure of the 21-year-old, who has been with the Gunners since age ten.
After a successful loan spell at Middlesbrough in the Championship in the second half of last season, Balogun will look to continue his development in one of French football’s most traditional clubs.
Regarded as one of the most successful clubs in French football history, Reims have won six Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France trophies, and five Trophée des champions titles.
The Red and Whites, however, finished 12th of 20 teams in the French Ligue 1 last term.
Balogun will not stay at Reims beyond the 2022-2023 campaign as Arsenal have not included a buy option in the loan contract that takes him to France.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is believed to have huge confidence in the youngster and sees him as a future star for the Gunners.
Born in New York City to Nigerian parents, Balogun represents England at the youth level. He, however, remains eligible to play for Nigeria’s Super Eagles and the United States of America.
