“Very negative” – Super Falcons coach takes a swipe at Nigerian media

The Super Falcons received due criticisms from the Nigerian after losing to South Africa in the WAFCON opener and the American wasn’t impressed

Randy Waldrum has taken a swipe at the Nigerian media and labelled journalists in the country “very negative”.

Waldrum’s comments came on the back of the Super Falcons’ 2-0 defeat of Botswana in their second group game on Thursday.

The American revealed his displeasure with the Nigerian media for the umpteenth time as he had in the past also taken aim at the media.

Honestly, media in Nigeria is very negative. We don’t want a distraction in our team.”

We are trying to qualify for the World Cup & the teams must be isolated,” he said.

According to Nigerian journalists in Morocco, the coach refused them coverage of the team walk on Thursday.

Waldrum had stated his displeasure with the Nigerian media’s handling of the team’s captaincy issues.

During the trip to Canada where the Super Falcons faced the Canadian team, the coach blamed Nigerian journalists for inaccurately reporting the matter.

“You know what? I really don’t want to comment on that right now because one thing I want to say is the Press in Nigeria make a lot of comments that aren’t accurate, ” Waldrum said at the time.
