“Nigeria weren’t stronger than us” – Cameroon coach states why team lost

The Lionesses lost for the ninth time in 13 meetings against the Super Falcons on Thursday

Cameroon women’s coach, Gabriel Zabo has said his girls matched the Nigerians strength-for-strength but the Super Falcons’ unbeatable experience was the difference.

Rasheedat Ajibade’s 57th-minute header was the difference for the Nigerians.

Zabo spoke after the game and said he will rally the girls to play for their place at the World Cuo through the remaining routes.

He said the Nigerians were not better than Cameroon but have had the experience of many games at that level.

“The game was won on fine details. They were not stronger than us, but they used the experience they have in the big competitions. And in this game, when it comes to utilizing their experience, they are unbeatable, ” Zabo said in his post-match interview.

“It’s not all over, we still have a chance to qualify for the World Cup this Sunday. My players showed by their level of play tonight that they were happy to be globalists,”

Cameroon will next face debutants Botswana in a potentially difficult game. The winner of the tie will head to the intercontinental play-offs for the World Cup.

“We have a few hours to watch the video this match, see what was going on and what was wrong. I will give the girls some time to digest this elimination. But I assure you that we will get back on track very quickly.”
