Nigeria vs Botswana: Super Falcons aim to bounce back from Banyana Banyana loss; Kick off time and preview

Time, Venue and what to expect

The Super Falcons suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of South Africa in the opening match of group C

Botswana will face Nigeria hoping to cause a major upset in their second group game of the ongoing Women’s African Cup of Nations.

The Southern Africans defeated Burundi 4-2 in the first game while the Super Falcons lost to the Banyana Banyana 2-1 in their opening match.

The Super Falcons received flaks across the country for their underwhelming performance and have vowed to bounce back against Botswana to put their qualification chances in motion.

Arguably the best team in Africa, the Super Falcons will look to impose their presence on the courageous and confident Botswanans on Thursday evening.

The Nigerians will however be without star player, Asisat Oshoala but will aim to regroup and forge for better fortunes in the competition.

When will the Super Falcons face Botswana

The match has been scheduled for 9 p.m local time and will be televised live on Supersport on DSTV and GoTV.

Where will the game hold?

The match will be held at the Moulay Hassan FUS where the Super Falcons also suffered a loss to South Africa in the first game.

Preview: Key Absence, Potential XI and expectations

While Nigeria ranks 39th in the world and 1st in Africa, their Southern African opponents rank 29th on the continent and 152nd in the world.

Football however never respects ranks.

Nigeria will be without star forward, Oshoala in the game and for the rest of the competition after sustaining a medial ligament damage in her knee.

She has been flown to her club Barcelona for further checks.

Unperturbed by the miss of her Star forward, American coach, Randy Waldrum has said it’s a must-win game and they’re ready for it.

“We are definitely going to make some changes from our first game. The atmosphere in camp is good and we have regrouped. We want to win our next game,” the American told the media.

“After the loss, we spent time with the players and regrouped and we are ready for this game. We are ready to get the job done.”

Potential XI for Super Falcons: Nnadozie; Ebi; Plumptre; Alozie; Ogbonna; Otu; Ucheibe; Toni Payne; Ordega; Ajibade; Onumonu
