The Super Eagles midfielder has been out of action since March, but he could return very soon
Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has revealed that he is ready to return to action for Leicester City ahead of their preseason games.
Ndidi sustained a knee injury in March during Leicester City’s Europa Conference League round of 16 tie against Rennes. The 25-year-old had to undergo surgery to ensure a faster recovery.
The injury ruled Ndidi out of the ill-fated 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Ghana in March. It also ensured that the Nigerian midfielder missed Nigeria’s first two Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The absence of Ndidi in the Leicester City midfield was noticeable, as the Foxes looked out of sorts on several occasions without the former Genk man.
However, Ndidi is set to make a return, as he believes the injury is gone, and all he needs is some training and game time to regain fitness.
“I have been working my way back,” Ndidi told LCFC.
“I went away for two weeks and came back early. The body has already adapted to it. It’s good. For me, I’m in a much better place.
“It’s good to be back with the lads and seeing all the lads. We’re still waiting for some of the lads but it will be good when everyone comes back and we can look forward to what we want to achieve.”
“The training is just to get the body toned up. As soon as the body gets ready for it, the games coming up are just another way of getting more fitness and getting us ready for more games coming.
“I just feel training is getting the body ready for the games ahead. The first game is to get game-time and gain more fitness.”
The Foxes have six preseason games lined up this month. They begin with a match against English National League side Notts County on the 9th of July.
Then they trade tackles with Belgian side OH Leuven, Championship sides Hull City, Preston North End, and Derby County.
Leicester City would then conclude with a game against Sevilla on the 31st of July.
