Super Eagles forward Samuel Chukwueze scored his first goal in preseason for Villarreal in their 2-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Chukwueze has not started any game for Villarreal in preseason so far, and Unai Emery still left out the Nigerian forward in their third preseason game against Borussia Dortmund.
The German side controlled the first half, bossing the possession and creating more chances. If not for Geronimo Rulli in the Villarreal goal, the Yellow Submarine could be been down and out in the first half.
Still, Villarreal left the half on top after a superb finish from Gerard Moreno to ensure a one-goal lead for the Yellow Submarine at halftime.
Villarreal started the second half looking better. They matched the Black and Yellow, and retained the ball better.
Emery decided to introduce Chukwueze into the game in the 60th minute, and the decision paid off.
Nine minutes after Chukwueze’s entry, the 23-year-old linked up well with Moreno and Etienne Capoue and placed a beautiful shot into the top corner.
Chukwueze’s strike ensured that the Yellow Submarine ran out with a 2-0 victory, their second in preseason.
Villarreal play four more preseason games against Reims, Southampton, Fulham, and Inter Milan before the Laliga season kicks off on the 13th of August.
