Super Eagles will face the Lone Stars with two attacking players upfront
Jose Peseiro has opted for Victor Osimhen and Sadiq Umar upfront for the Nigerians as the Super Eagles hope to banish the memories of their World Cup miss against with a victory on their return to Abuja.
Peseiro named a strong eleven against the West Africans with a possible 4-4-2 formation.
In goal, there is Francis Uzoho, with the central defensive pairing of William Troost-Ekong and Semi Ajayi. Ola Aina and Calvin Bassey are on both defensive flanks.
In the midfield, Peseiro opted for Joe Aribo and Alex Iwobi while Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon are on the flanks.
Umar and Osimhen are upfront in a repeat of what Peseiro played with the Nigerians in their friendlies against Ecuador and Mexico.
In both games, Peseiro played upfront with Cyriel Dessers and Terem Moffi with with Iwobi and Aribo playing in the midfield.
The Nigerians hope to start their 2023 AFCON qualifiers on a strong note with a victory against a team they’ve not defeated on their last two meetings.
