The yet-to-be-capped Super Eagles youngster was named as one of the nominees for the CAF Young Player of the Year award
Super Eagles midfielder, Akinkunmi Amoo has been announced as one of ten nominees for the award category for young players.
Burkina Faso’s Dango Ouattara, Ivory Coast’s Karim Konate, Jesus Owono, James Gomez, Kamaldeen Sulemana, Ilaix Moriba, El Bilal Toure, Pape Matar Sarr and Hannibal Mejbri were all nominated for the award.
Amoo is in an illustrious circle as he’s up against some of the continent’s finest young footballers.
The player who joined FC Copenhagen in January has resumed preseason training ahead of next season and is the only nominee on the list that is yet to be capped by his country at the senior level.
He had a blistering U-17 career but didn’t get to feature at the U-20 level. Amoo’s invitation for the 2021 AFCON was late and he didn’t make it to the competition but was part of Nigeria’s squad who missed out on the 2022 World Cup to Ghana.
