Super Eagles to depart for Morocco Saturday for Sao Tomé & Principé clash

Super Eagles will depart Nigeria for Morocco Saturday for their second AFCON 2023 qualifying game

Nigerian players and officials will depart Abuja on Saturday night for Morocco, where they will face Sao Tome and Principe in their second group game at the AFCON qualifiers.

Training resumed on Friday as Portuguese coach, Jose Peseiro engaged the members of the squad who didn’t feature against Sierra Leone, while those who played in the game went on gym sessions.

The Nigerians will face Sao Tome and Principe hoping to win the maximum points after starting the group in second place after matchday 1.

Guinea Bissau defeated the island nation ranked 183rd in the world and 50th in Africa in the first game. The West Africans thrashed the bottom-placed Sao Tome and Principe 5-1.

The Super Eagles will be without William Troost-Ekong in the game while Innocent Bonke has returned to the team and is now in contention to play.

Peseiro will be looking to win his second competitive game in charge of the team and plug the holes observed so far.
