Super Eagles forward nominated for Player of the Month award

Super Eagles star continued his hot streak for UD Almeria in May and it proved enough to earn his side a promotion ticket to the La Liga

Umar Sadiq scored two goals in four league games in May and did enough to help Almeria win the La Liga 2 title and earn an automatic promotion to the elite division.

His final day goal proved important for Almeria’s final hurdle and convinced the organizers of the league to nominate him alongside Jonathan Viera of UD Las Palmas and Real Valladolid’s Shon Weissman.

It wasn’t the first time Sadiq will be nominated for Player of the Month award as he had previously won the award. He won the award for the month of February after scoring five goals and assisting two in the month.

The attacker is currently a subject of transfer interests across Europe after scoring 18 goals and assisting nine in helping Almeria’s promotion push.

With their status secured in La Liga, the club is seeking to hold on to the attacker as they face a potentially grueling La Liga campaign.
