Sao Tome & Principe: Peseiro sticks to midfield two; rings changes in personnel

The Super Eagles will face Sao Tome and Principe in Agadir, Morocco with Nigeria’s Portuguese coach tinkering with his setup

Jose Peseiro has stuck to his midfield two as he deployed against Sierra Leone with Oghenekaro Etebo replacing Joe Aribo in the deep role.

Calvin Bassey will play alongside Semi Ajayi in the heart of the defense while Zaidu Sanusi has been slotted in at the left-back position. Ola Aina maintains his right-back slot.

Alex Iwobi has also retained his place in the team while Ademola Lookman has replaced Samuel Chukwueze in the attack. Moses Simon, skipper for the game will play on the other side of the wing.

Lorient’s Terem Moffi has replaced Sadiq Umar in the setup and will partner Victor Osimhen in the forward line.

Nigeria currently sit second on the log on goals difference behind Guinea Bissau who thrashed the island nation 5-1 in the first game of Group A in the 2023 AFCON qualifiers.

Guinea Bissau will face Sierra Leone away from home on the second leg while the Nigerians will face the 183rd-ranked team in the world.

It is Peseiro’s second competitive game in charge of the Super Eagles.
